Residents of Grangeville Idaho found Columbian Mammoth bones in Tolo Lake! 

Soon the discovery led to efforts to drain the lake and excavate the fossils.  A full sized replica was funded through community efforts and an exhibit placed at Soltman Park behind the Grangeville Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center just off Highway 95 at Pine Street.
